Translation practice giving personal information. The worksheet contains 2 copies per hand-out and the teacher solution is provided. The Familie und Freunde acrostic is a great prompt where the letters of the title have been used to form sentences with high frequency personal information and physical description vocabulary. Pupils can translate the information and use as a prompt to do their own creative writing. These are great resources to improve written accuracy and address areas of weakness. They are suitable for classwork, homework or cover work. You will also find them easy to print and edit.

This resource practices knowledge of weather expressions and verb formations. Within the presentation are 4 expressions in the past, 4 weather expressions in the present and 4 in the future. There are also time tags in each tense. This is carefully supported with colour coding to explain formation and grammar patterns. On the final slide there are 17 weather expressions for pupils to change from the present to the past and the future.

Teacher presentation introducing the German alphabet. Puzzle to solve first as the starter rearranging a familiar phrase. Then there is drilling of the alphabet sounds. Pupils complete a short dialogue introducing themselves and spelling their name. To consolidate learning there is a quiz of 9 common German words in the English language e.g. Fahrenheit that the pupils have to spell using their knowledge of the German alphabet. Also included is a print out of the alphabet that is ideal for learners to stick in their book for future reference and encourage independent learning.

A set of follow me cards with 22 phrases revising daily routine in the present tense. Great to consolidate as a whole class or in groups. The past and present game includes differentiated version. There is a blank template where pupils use picture prompts to write about their daily routine in the present and the past. The second version they can transform the present to the past and vice versa. The third version is a card sort whereby the teacher prints out the solution, cuts up the sentences and the pupils arrange them in the correct columns. Excellent for consolidation, review or revision.

Teacher presentation to introduce "what's important to me" . The starter is a shape puzzle that recaps on school vocab. The slide can be printed off and pupils work independently to form the triangle. The teacher then introduces 7 things that are important to them. The pupils can use dictionaries and their books to prepare speaking presentations on what is important to them. There is a worksheet with a reading text that can be used for pupils as a prompt to write their own answers. There is also a storyboard template for them to prepare a plan. This would work equally well preparing for a speaking presentation. There is also a fun Sudoku puzzle. This is a lovely lesson to use as an icebreaker with new classes. This could be extended with use of "weil"

Writing and speaking preparation for communicating what you did last weekend. The teacher presentation guides pupils carefully through each step with modelled answers. The vocabulary sheet is also carefully differentiated and pupils are encouraged to be independent and add more phrases. A storyboard sheet is provided so pupils can practice with different partners using their sheet as a prompt. There is also a worksheet with fun puzzles reinforcing the past tense. This is ideal for assessment preparation. It has been designed for "what you did last weekend" but it would be to change to "what did you do in the holidays"

These resources are designed for pupils who have a basic knowledge of German and are aimed at recapping key vocabulary. I have used them for new classes or returning after holiday time. The starter activity is a shape puzzle for pupils to match up key language. Within the teacher presentation pupils revise providing personal information (name, age, where they live, brothers and sister, favourite actor/actress, favourite film). There are opportunities to practice speaking and writing with lots of support provided. The Excel sheet contains follow me cards and a written summary consolidating the key questions that have been practiced. Please be aware that each activity is on a separate sheet of the spreadsheet. The speaking and writing templates are easy to edit for future use with other topics.

The resources include a starter to rearrange the parts of the body. Also included are two word searches of 14 body parts, one provided the German, in the differentiated version pupils have to translate the English before finding the German. In addition there is a word puzzle containing illnesses and problems the words need to be unscrambled to reveal the correct phrases. In the teacher presentation there is a recap of illnesses whereby pupils translate 9 phrases aiming to reveal the mystery character. There is an example of a dialogue at the doctors and a speaking and writing frame for pupils to describe problems and offer solutions.
